 Homes of Hope.

Often, the best chance of a successful outcome for a patient with pancreatic cancer is to travel to a hospital far from home. Travel costs add up quickly, especially when patients consider lodging, transportation, and food. Patients who need housing for extended cancer treatments may need to spend several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on their length of stay. When considering these costs, it can feel incredibly overwhelming to move forward with treatment far from home.

In 2021, The Reaumond Foundation set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 to provide subsidized housing to patients seeking extended care for pancreatic cancer at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas – the nation’s top hospital for cancer care. With the help of our generous donors, we were able to purchase and furnish our first home, which is within walking distance from MD Anderson, in December of 2021.

Homes of Hope aims to ease the financial burden of housing, provide better access to the nation’s top cancer hospitals, and provide a “home away from home” to families during their most difficult days.

A special thanks to sponsors like HEB and Raising Canes for donating gift cards to Homes of Hope for patients to use for meals and groceries during their stay.

Meet the Patients

  • "Thank you Homes of Hope for providing a such a wonderful place to stay. My wife cried tears of relief when we walked in. The apartment you provided, at a very generous rate, was extremely comfortable, very quiet, and safe. We both were blown away with how much thought was put into the things you provided for our use. From the coffee and tea to the new toothbrushes, from the adjustable bed to the puzzles for our entertainment. You truly thought of things that made a difference. The apartment was so clean and comfortable. We loved the gated and covered parking."
