Meet Our Intern, Shaely Sanetra
My name is Shaely Sanetra, and I am a senior at The Ohio State University and I am majoring in strategic communications and Spanish.
Being that I am in a service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, I have always had an interest in helping those near or far from me in any way that I can. Giving back to those who need it is truly so rewarding, and it feels extremely fulfilling to serve others.
Growing up with my family, I learned early on what it meant to give back to those around me. My dad particularly always made sure I treated every soul I met with the utmost respect regardless of who they were and what they were going through, and I have always carried that with me when meeting new people. Watching my dad always giving unconditional love to everyone around him and putting others first had instilled in me valuing the time I have with those around me.
His work ethic and drive is something I know I continue to use in my day-to-day life, because as I have grown up, I found that life is kind of hard sometimes, but I can always work through it.
My dad lost one of his best friends to pancreatic cancer, and my family has experienced lost battles to other forms of cancer and seeing the way my family members stepped up to help and be selfless led me to appreciate the morals I have learned even further.
Being able to work with people and learning more about their stories is something I am excited to be involved with. My best friend Bella mentioned the opportunity to me, and I am thankful she thought to ask me to intern with the organization. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with the Reaumond Foundation, and cannot wait to learn more about the community surrounding it.-Shaely Sanetra
