Meet Jimmy, Our May Guest at Homes of Hope!

I was diagnosed to stage IV of pancreas cancer in Sept. 2021 as I began my retirement in Florida in my early 70s.  It is a big blow to me and my family, yet I have never given up, but positively seeking treatment, and fighting every day.  Fortunately I found and have been treated at MD Anderson, the best cancer institute in the nation. For the past 2 and a half years, me and my wife have traveled to Houston a dozen times, I have endured lengthy chemo therapy, radiation and many lab works, CTs or MRIs.  Finally, doctors decided to conduct the Whipple surgery in the next month. This big operation requires a long healing recovery which worries us very much. With the recommendation of Liliana, MDA's  pancreatic nurse navigator, I was connected with Homes of Hope, the most ideal boarding facility near the medical area.  Its affordable, yet convenient and comfortable living environment truly gives us feelings like a home away from home, providing me with more encouragement to fight the illness and to recover with confidence from the surgery.  I’ve seen beautiful images of the condo, patients and families smiles, and numerous five-star comments which are the best illustration of the greatness of Homes of Hope!
